What medications are available to me?

Semaglutide

GLP-1 receptor agonist medication that is used for diabetes type 2, but has been found to have assisted with weight loss. It helps with weight loss by mimicking the action of a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar levels, increasing insulin secretion, reducing glucagon release, slows gastric emptying, and promotes the feeling of fullness or satiety.

It has been a popular choice for weight loss goals by taking a once a week injection that can be self administered or administered by a licensed professional.

Side effects include and not limited to: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, hypoglycemia, dyspepsia, abdominal distension, GERD, flatulence, gastritis, elevated liver enzymes, can cause abnormal renal function, injection site sensitivities (redness, bruising, tenderness).

Tirzepatide

Dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist. Used for type 2 diabetes and weight loss. It activates two key hormones involved in glucose regulation and appetite control. It helps to improve insulin secretion, reduce appetite which helps with weight loss.

Less side effects due to the dual agonist receptors.
